Everything you've always wanted to know about trail running at acsis VOB, but were too afraid to ask.
Trail Running
Trail running is one of the fastest growing sports in South Africa.   It's about getting out into nature and enjoying the wonderful beauty and diversity all around you.

It's also great for improving your running strength and stamina, so if you haven't tried it yet, what are you waiting for?!
Trail Running Groups
Acsis VOB Trail Running Group
This group was established by Tim Bellairs and has proved incredibly popular.   Meeting on a Saturday morning in a variety of beautiful locations, the group caters for a wide variety of trail runners.

This group is an excellent way for road runners to test our their mountain legs in a low-stress environment and see if they have what it takes.   Click here to see their blog.
Acsis VOB Walk/Run Trail Group
Formed by Peter Rogers and Sandra Ackland, this group is aimed at those who have been interested in trying trail running but have never quite got around to it and have thought it a bit intimidating.

The runs will often start at the same time and place as the Trail Running Group and Brisk Trail Walking Group each Saturday.   Obviously, they may choose to do something else if they feel like it, but the idea is that they will be out on the normal trail paths but will run for the sections that they can and then walk when they can't run.   The runs are about 8-9km and take between 1.5-2 hours depending on the terrain.

Peter and Sandra describe it as being for:
  • Novices who want to get an idea of trail running but are not yet ready to join in with faster/longer runs
  • Older runners who are no longer up to a full trail run
  • Ex runners on the come-back who are not yet ready for longer distances
